Sport and movement are important elements for an active life together and
for peaceful coexistence in civic society. This trend is in evidence in cities
everywhere: Public parks and open spaces are being transformed into
temporary or permanent places for sports, games, and movement.
The exhibition, which started out as open-air stations in public space has
now been expanded to present 12 projects already realized in Europe and
which innovatively integrate sports activities into the urban environment.
They include downtown football pitches and riverside parks designed to
enable a variety of different sports through to schoolyards that offer games
and sports facilities and, in this way, embrace the surrounding neighborhood.
The spectrum ranges from re-designs and repurposing and the
integration of new agendas through to minimal interventions in existing
settings. The exhibition will itself become a games field: There are areas
with mats, calisthenics equipment, a minigolf pitch, and a skittles alley to
encourage visitors to work out together.
Workshops and sports events will be held in cooperation with Sportkreis Frankfurt. Kindly supported by the Friends of the DAM.
